Choosing a baby ear-piercing studio in Manchester
For a baby or child, look for a professional studio that uses sterile single-use equipment, explains the full appointment clearly and puts the child’s wellbeing ahead of completing the piercing. A private appointment can also make the experience calmer than a busy shop-floor setting.
Little Viper is the specialist baby and children’s ear-piercing service inside The Viper Pit in Irlam, Manchester. Appointments are led by Chris Devereux, a licensed and DBS-checked piercer with more than 15 years of professional experience.
What age can a baby have their ears pierced?
Little Viper accepts appointments from four months old. A parent or legal guardian must attend, and parents should bring the child’s Red Book to the appointment.
Age is only one part of the decision. For an older child, their own willingness matters too. We explain what will happen in simple language, allow time for questions and never force or rush a piercing if a child becomes distressed.
Why we use needles, never piercing guns
A professional piercing needle is sterile, single-use and designed for accurate placement. At Little Viper, each ear is pierced individually with a separate needle that is opened fresh for the appointment and safely disposed of immediately afterwards.
Piercing guns use force to push an earring through the ear. We do not use guns for babies or children. Needle-only piercing allows Chris to work carefully and assess the placement of each ear separately.
What happens during the appointment?
The appointment takes approximately 15 minutes. We begin by talking through the process and agreeing the placement with the parent or guardian. Each ear is marked and pierced individually for accuracy rather than both being pierced at the same moment.
Your child’s comfort always comes first. If they become too upset or distressed, we pause and will not proceed or complete the piercing. Finishing both ears is never more important than their wellbeing.
What is included in the £65 package?
The £65 appointment includes both ears pierced individually, a choice of 2mm gold-plated sterling-silver safety earrings or matching 2mm titanium safety bars, Studex aftercare lotion and a Little Viper Certificate of Bravery.
Once the piercings are fully healed, we also offer free autoclave sterilisation of a suitable pair of next earrings. This helps families make the first jewellery change with clean, professionally sterilised earrings.
Aftercare and healing
Follow the aftercare instructions provided at the appointment and use the included Studex lotion as directed. Avoid unnecessary touching, keep the area clean and do not change the starter earrings before the piercings are fully healed.
Some mild tenderness can be expected at first. If you are worried about persistent swelling, heat, discharge, worsening pain or anything that does not look right, contact the studio for guidance and seek medical advice where appropriate.
