Understanding the ear-piercing healing journey

Healing is a gradual process and every child is different. Consistent, simple aftercare matters more than repeatedly checking or changing the earrings too soon.

The early days

Some initial tenderness can be expected after a new piercing. Follow the guidance provided at the appointment, use the included Studex aftercare lotion as directed and wash your hands before going near the ears.

Avoid unnecessary touching, twisting or picking. Keep hair, clothing and anything likely to catch away from the earrings where possible.

Do not rush the first change

A piercing can look settled on the outside before it has fully healed. Leave the original safety earrings in place and contact us if you are unsure whether the ears are ready for a change.

Once fully healed, you can bring in a suitable pair of next earrings and we will check them and autoclave them free of charge before the first change.

When something worries you

If anything about the piercing or healing process concerns you, contact the studio for guidance rather than experimenting with different products at home.

For symptoms that appear severe, are worsening or make your child unwell, seek advice from an appropriate healthcare professional. Piercing aftercare guidance does not replace medical assessment or treatment.
